St James’ Boulevard is a student accommodation project located centrally in Newcastle City Centre, being developed by Nixon Homes.

The scheme originally consented outline planning permission for a 246-bedroom student accommodation development. Following consent, FTSQUARED worked with the Client and professional team in securing a revised planning consent which was approved in 2019.

The revised consent provides a 12 storey student accommodation building comprising of 344 student bedrooms with mix of cluster bedrooms and shared kitchen/lounge, studios, 2 bed studios and DDA rooms, with ancillary facilities including gym, cinema, amenity areas, cycle and refuse storage, lounge areas, laundry facilities, plant and external works.

The project is anticipated to be on-site for completion in summer 2022. The construction work will involve an enabling package consisting of the demolition of existing buildings, archaeology, listed building works and site preparation, followed by the main construction delivery.
